Puttur, Sep 27: A tragic accident involving a collision between a bike and a tanker lorry claimed the life of the bike rider at Neerakatte in Bajathur village on the Mangaluru-Bengaluru National Highway 75 on the night of September 25.

The deceased has been identified as Annu (52), a resident of Kaje in Kodimbadi village of Puttur taluk. He was working as a mason.

The incident occurred when Annu was returning to his residence in Kodimbadi after visiting a deceased relative's house in Golithottu.

As he reached Neerakatte, his bike collided with the mudguard of a tanker heading from Mangaluru towards Hassan, which was being driven by Mallappa Sankonatti. The impact of the collision threw the rider onto the road, causing severe injuries that resulted in his death on the spot.

Based on a complaint filed by tanker driver Mallappa Sankonatti, a case has been registered at the Puttur traffic police station.

The deceased is survived by his mother, wife, two sons, and a daughter.
