Nagoya, Sep 27: India’s men’s and women’s compound archery teams advanced to the semifinals of their respective events at the ongoing Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Saturday.
The men’s trio of Sahil Jadhav, Ganesh Mani Ratnam and Kushal Dalal defeated Bhutan 235-232 in a closely fought quarterfinal to book a semifinal clash against South Korea.
The women’s team of Chikitha Taniparthi, Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Prithika Pradeep also progressed to the last four after beating Kazakhstan 233-230. They will face South Korea in the semifinals.
India also advanced in women’s shortboard surfing, with Sugar Shanti Gayen and Kamali Prakash making it to the third round.
Sugar Shanti defeated Chen Wan-yu of Chinese Taipei with a score of 7.33, while Kamali Prakash overcame Singapore’s Camille Marie Spaccarotella with a score of 7.57. The quarterfinals are scheduled to be held on Sunday.
India have so far won 30 medals at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, comprising four gold, 12 silver and 14 bronze.
