Aichi-Nagoya, Sep 28: India will continue their bid to break into the top 10 of the medal leaderboard as the 2026 Asian Games enter their 10th day in Aichi-Nagoya on Monday.
India remain 12th in the standings with 37 medals, comprising four gold, 16 silver and 17 bronze.
India enjoyed a medal-rich Day 9 on Sunday, highlighted by historic silver-medal finishes from squash players Anahat Singh and Abhay Singh.
On the track and field front, Ancy Sojan claimed silver in the women's long jump, while high jumper Sarvesh Kushare also secured silver. Harita Bhadra in the women's 200m, Tejaswin Shankar in the decathlon and Parul Chaudhary in the women's 3000m steeplechase rounded out India's athletics haul with bronze medals.
India's gold medals so far have come from the shooting range, cricket and kabaddi. Suruchi Phogat and Kamaljeet won gold in the 10m mixed air pistol event, while the Indian women's cricket team and the men's and women's kabaddi teams also secured gold medals.
The People's Republic of China lead the medal standings with 120 gold, 49 silver and 39 bronze medals, giving them a total of 208 medals. Japan are second with 37 gold, 62 silver and 58 bronze for a total of 157, while the Republic of Korea are third with 21 gold, 23 silver and 40 bronze for 84 medals.
Uzbekistan are fourth with 10 gold, 17 silver and 11 bronze medals for a total of 38. Kazakhstan are fifth with nine gold, 10 silver and 21 bronze for 40 medals, followed by Thailand in sixth with nine gold, seven silver and 10 bronze for 26.
Bahrain are seventh with eight gold, two silver and three bronze medals for 13. The Islamic Republic of Iran are eighth with seven gold, 14 silver and eight bronze for 29, while the Democratic People's Republic of Korea are ninth with six gold, five silver and four bronze for 15.
Malaysia occupy 10th place with six gold, two silver and eight bronze medals for 16. Hong Kong, China are 11th with five gold, 12 silver and 16 bronze for 33, while India are 12th with four gold, 16 silver and 17 bronze for 37.
Chinese Taipei are 13th with three gold, seven silver and 19 bronze for 29, followed by Indonesia in 14th with two gold, five silver and 17 bronze for 24.
Singapore are 15th with two gold, five silver and three bronze for 10 medals. The Philippines are 16th with two gold, two silver and eight bronze for 12.
Qatar and Tajikistan are tied at 17th with two gold, two silver and one bronze each for five medals. Kuwait are 19th with two gold, one silver and two bronze for five, while Macao, China are 20th with one gold, four silver and one bronze for six.
Vietnam are 21st with one gold, one silver and 16 bronze medals for 18. Jordan and Myanmar are tied at 22nd with one gold, one silver and one bronze each for three medals.
Saudi Arabia are 24th with no gold, two silver and five bronze medals for seven. Kyrgyzstan are 25th with no gold, one silver and three bronze for four.
Afghanistan and Iraq are tied at 26th with no gold, one silver and two bronze medals each for three. Lebanon and Oman are tied at 28th with no gold, one silver and one bronze each for two.
Sri Lanka, Turkmenistan and the United Arab Emirates are tied at 30th, each having won one silver medal.
Cambodia and Pakistan are tied at 33rd with four bronze medals each. Nepal are 35th with two bronze medals, while Bangladesh, Brunei Darussalam, Mongolia and the Syrian Arab Republic are tied at 36th with one bronze medal each.
Indian medallists
India's gold-medal-winning campaign includes the women's and men's kabaddi teams, the Indian women's cricket team and Kamaljeet and Suruchi Singh in the 10m air pistol mixed team event.
In shooting, Elavenil Valarivan won silver in the women's 10m Air Rifle individual event. She also teamed up with Sonam Maskar and Vidarsa Vinod to win silver in the women's 10m Air Rifle team event.
Himanshu Dhillon secured silver in the men's 10m Air Rifle individual event, while Rudrankksh Patil, Himanshu Dhillon and Parth Mane won silver in the men's 10m Air Rifle team event. Rudrankksh Patil also won bronze in the men's 10m Air Rifle individual event.
Raiza Dhillon, Maheshwari Chauhan and Parinaaz Dhaliwal secured bronze in the women's skeet team event. Anantjeet Singh Naruka, Bhavtegh Singh Gill and Mairaj Ahmad Khan won bronze in the men's skeet team event, while Anantjeet Singh Naruka and Parinaaz Dhaliwal secured bronze in the mixed skeet team event.
Kamaljeet and Suruchi Singh won gold in the 10m air pistol mixed team event.
Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Rudranksh Patil and Niraj Kumar won silver in the men's 50m rifle 3P team event. Ashi Chouksey, Vidarsa Kochalumkal Vinod and Tilottama Sen secured silver in the women's 50m rifle 3P team event.
In mixed martial arts, Suchika Tariyal won bronze in women's Traditional MMA in the 60kg category.
In cricket, the Indian women's cricket team won the gold medal.
Mirabai Chanu secured silver in women's weightlifting in the 49kg category.
In soft tennis, Jay Meena won bronze in men's singles.
India's men's badminton team comprising Lakshya Sen, Ayush Shetty, H.S. Prannoy, Kidambi Srikanth, Tharun Mannepalli, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, Chirag Shetty, Hariharan Amsakarunan, M.R. Arjun and Dhruv Kapila won bronze.
In wushu, Roshibina Devi secured silver in women's 60kg sanda.
In rowing, Satnam Singh and Salman Khan won bronze in men's double sculls.
