Bantwal, Sep 28: A woman was killed and three others were seriously injured in a collision between an Alto car and a tempo pickup near the Halera flyover here early Monday September 28 morning.

The deceased has been identified as Nafeesa (55), a resident of Madikeri.

Five people, including the driver, were travelling in the car. Four women and the driver were in the vehicle. The accident reportedly occurred while they were returning home after attending an Umrah class.

The service road at Halera, which provides access to the Puttur-Madikeri-Mysuru road, is reportedly confusing and has been causing frequent accidents. Local residents have alleged that people coming from outside often face confusion while driving as they are unable to properly identify the service road as the entry route to Madikeri-Mysuru highway.

The narrow entry road is not clearly visible, and the absence of any signboards is reportedly causing several such confusions, local residents have alleged.

The seriously injured were admitted to a private hospital in Mangaluru.
