Brahmavar, Sep 28: Udupi MLA Yashpal Suvarna, along with officials, visited the site of the upcoming Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) Hospital at Varamballi in Brahmavar taluk and reviewed the progress of the ongoing works.

The ESI Hospital is being constructed on 5.13 acres of land at Varamballi village. The Central Government has already sanctioned funds for the construction of a 100-bed hospital along with 32 staff quarters. The compound wall construction, estimated to cost around Rs 2 crore, is currently in progress.

As the proposed hospital site is surrounded by residential areas, MLA Yashpal Suvarna directed the officials to hold consultations with the local gram panchayat and community leaders before commencing the main construction works.

He stressed the need for a scientific and systematic approach to infrastructure planning, particularly with regard to rainwater drainage, road connectivity and proper waste management, so that the project does not cause inconvenience to residents in the surrounding areas.

During the visit, ESI department deputy director Jatin Meena, social security officer Vinayak, former Varamballi GP president Nityananda B R, and local leaders Rajesh Shetty Birti, S Narayana, Naveen Chandra Naik, Niranjan Shetty, Devananda, Nagaveni, Uma Bai and Rajeev Kulal, among others, were present.
