Mangaluru, Sep 28: Mangalore Institute of Technology & Engineering (MITE), Moodabidri, has once again demonstrated its academic excellence by securing 8 University Ranks in the Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) BE Examinations 2026.
Among these, the institution has proudly clinched one first rank, accompanied by gold medal. The 26th convocation of VTU was held on September 26 at VTU Belagavi, where the meritorious students were honoured by Sri Thawar Chand Gehlot, Governor of Karnataka and the Chancellor of the University; and Dr Vidyashankar S vice chancellor, VTU, Belagavi. Sooryatheja B D from Mechatronics Engineering secured first rank with an outstanding gold medal.
Other notable rank holders include Mohammad Zuhair - 4th Rank, Sinchana M C - 7th Rank, Freya Naomi Lobo - 10th Rank in Mechatronics Engineering. G Ananya Prabhu - 2nd Rank, Megha B - 6th Rank in Aeronautical Engineering. Abdul Khadar Jilani - 2nd Rank, and Amulya - 3rd Rank in CSE (IoT & Cyber Security Including Block Chain Technology), who have all secured commendable ranks in their respective branches, showcasing MITE’s consistent focus on excellence.
The institute has proudly maintained 100% results in final-year examinations year after year, reaffirming its commitment to academic excellence. This has led the institute to secure a grand 67 ranks in the last 9 years.
Over the years, MITE has consistently fostered a supportive academic environment rooted in skill development, innovation, and industry-aligned learning. As a testament, MITE has recently signed MoU with Wipro, L&T Edutech as well as Silicon Labs. Further, MITE organized Semicon 2026, themed “Powering the Next Wave of Innovation through Semiconductors,” in August 2026, bringing together industry experts from 11 semiconductor companies, which served as a common platform to explore the rapidly evolving semiconductor ecosystem and India’s emerging opportunities in the sector.
Furthermore, MITE actively promotes a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship, supporting promising ideas with mentorship, entrepreneurial guidance, and grants of Rs 1.5 crore every year to 30+ student ideas. To further bolster the ecosystem, MITE in association with KDEM, Govt of Karnataka and Impact Week, Germany organised 'Impact Discovery India 2026’ during September 2026. The event witnessed ten global design thinking coaches from Germany, London, Turkey, Kenya visit MITE and conducted a 3-day Faculty training programme on design thinking, and a 4-day design thinking workshop to 18 student innovator teams of MITE.
