New Delhi, Sep 29: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday conducted searches at 16 locations across Assam, West Bengal and Kerala as part of its investigation into a cross-border terror conspiracy case, officials said.

Of the 16 locations, 10 are in Assam, five in West Bengal and one in Kerala.

The investigation is linked to a radicalisation case in Assam involving Imam Mahmuder Kafila (IMK), which officials have described as an offshoot of the banned Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB).

The searches are aimed at gathering evidence related to alleged radicalisation activities and suspected cross-border links associated with the IMK network.

Investigators are also examining the activities and links of individuals suspected to be connected with the case and are probing the IMK network's activities in Assam and its suspected links with entities operating across the border.

Further details about the premises searched and any recoveries made during the operation are awaited.
