New Delhi, Sep 29: India’s Parveen Hooda advanced to the women’s 65kg boxing final at the Asian Games after defeating China’s Li Shu 5-0 in the semifinal on Tuesday.
Parveen, who won a bronze medal at the previous edition before the medal was taken away following a 22-month suspension by the International Testing Agency (ITA) for a whereabouts failure, has now surpassed her performance from Hangzhou.
Indian boxers have already improved on their four-medal haul from the previous edition, with six pugilists securing places in the medal rounds at the ongoing Games.
Commonwealth Games champion Ankush Panghal in the 80kg category and last edition’s bronze medallist Narender Berwal in the +90kg category will compete in their respective semifinals later on Tuesday.
