Beltangady: Wild Bee Attack at Gadaikallu Hill - Hundreds of Devotees Stung

Daijiworld Media Network - Beltangady (PS)

Beltangady, Mar 31: A wild bee attack on Friday March 30 marred the solemn observance of the last Friday before Good Friday, when Catholics offer Stations of the Cross on the Gadaikallu hill or Jamalabad in Nada village.

Hundreds of devotees were stung by the bees, and many of them are said to be serious.

The incident occured when a large group of devotees from in and around the region were climbing the hill. Devotees in three different vehicles started their journey towards the hill at 3 pm.

Some of them had reached a higher level while others were still at the bottom. All of a sudden, a swarm of wild bees attacked those at the bottom of the hill. Even children who were among the group were stung.

Six people suffered serious injuries. The devotees who had reached the peak remained there for more than four hours fearing for their lives.

The route was narrow and there was no scope for escape. The group included women, children and elders. As the bees hovered around the area, people could not move.

Five or six people were shifted to Badyar hospital in an ambulance. Private vehicle were also used to transport the injured to hospital. Ashwin, son of Molly in Manjotti was one among six critically injured.

People in the village rushed to their help and provided first aid. Police, fire and forest officials were informed. People from all communities worked together to save the devotees.

The Catholics observe the tradition of offering Stations of the Cross at the hill every year under the guidance of Holy Redeemer Church, Beltangady.

People give up many things at lent but lifes will be the same. These practices never come from Bible either Jesus asked us to. Yes indeed Lord Jesus Christ went to great agony no human went through. Jesus paid the price for our sins who ever believes in Him will have eternal life. What we are asked to do we are least bothered and what is not told we are seeking things out side the Gospel. I am not saying what was happened is good indeed it is sad to see people hurt.

The true reason it put my comment is the power of God is not seen in the church. In the early church and still today who ever follow Christ purform great signs and wonders but now a days the church is just become just a monument. The reason is the Christianity became a religion. Jesus did not come to establish a religion but save the sinners. Out side the Gospel truth no salvation assured.

Can you quote me the verse in the Bible for such practice? On goodfriday people weap and mourn Jesus said don't weap for me weap for you and for your children. Goodfriday Jesus crush the head of satan and took stolen authority back to his followers in contrary we weap and morn for the Lords death and call it goodfriday. Jesus is risen from the death and alive Praise the Lord. Let us salabrate the day the satan the accuser is defited but christians do not want to take the authority what Jesus has given to them to drive out demons, healing the sick and ever raising the dead. Christians raise up and be witness to Jesus Christ.

First 'b' a devotee and then 'c'. These 'b's store honey for you and not for them! It's not that' easy'a principle to follow in human life! Devotees can definitely learn from the bees!
Why underestmate Kindergarten? You have got it wrong by writing kinder garden.... but in any case
as Jesus used to say you have to be innocent like a 'child' to enter his garden ! I am on my way... Are you starting from Houston? You see 'small steps a big journey make'! Wish you all the best and God bless!

When ever you practice a tradition which is contrary to the word of God in whcih God never told us to do or follow there is no protection of God over our lives.

He is suffered and died on the cross for our sins. HIS will is to worship HIM in spirit and truth rather than traditional practice. Tradition teaches to reduce the penalty of our sin by putting our body in to suffering which disqualify the the works of the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross. It has been already paid on the cross and you can earn it by faith not by putting your body in to suffering. Abraham was saved by faith therefore salvation is a Gift of God to the mankind. Who ever believes shall be saved.

This reminds us of lords sufferings on the way of calvery. Took our cross on his shoulders. Same Jesus will cure them. God bless them with good health. Thank God no serious casualties. Thank to Jesus Christ.

Its a sad news. People be educated when you indulge in adventure/hiking through the nature. Maybe the poor bee nest were disturbed in their natural habitat . We the people are the one entering thier zone, we are to be blamed and while we go through all this, it is our duty to be educated regarding the nature and not to go into their zone. Hope all the devotees are fine now and God bless them .

Dear Readers, Just cover your heads with some cloths or paper or something else. Wild bees never attack a person with covered head! It is true. That is what the forest people do to protect from bees!

Take care please, one can offer prayers even at one's home. Forest's are for wild creatures and animals. Don't blame them. They may be attacking for their safety. Unless, someone thorow stone or disturb, such bees does'nt attack....still think twice while organising such ventures.....

Organisors need to be questioned.. Any public gathering of this kind need to have some safty measures.. Organisors need to inspect the location especially hill areas before conducting any events. We have seen stampade in many temples events. Still we do not learn any lessons..

A case of 'Devotees and 'Bees'
    Praise the Lord
    There are no severe 'Csualities'
It's when his devotees are really
    'stung'
And with earenstness his prayers are 'sung'
The bells at his altar are hard 'rung'
Soon you hear into action he has 'Swung'....
