Guwahati, Oct 1: India defeated West Indies by eight wickets in the second ODI at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on Wednesday to seal the three-match series.
After winning the toss, India captain Shubman Gill opted to bowl, but West Indies piled up 406 runs in a record-breaking batting display. Five batters scored centuries in the match, marking a first in ODI cricket.

John Campbell set the tone for West Indies with a 101-run knock. After losing Keacy Carty early, Campbell added 110 runs with captain Shai Hope. Hope then combined with Amir Jangoo for a massive 182-run partnership.
Jangoo smashed 114 off just 77 balls, while Hope also completed his century as West Indies posted their highest-ever ODI total of 406 runs.
Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja claimed two wickets each towards the end of the innings, while Gurnoor Brar also picked up wickets but conceded 96 runs in his 10 overs, making it India's fourth-most expensive spell in ODIs.
Chasing 407, India made light work of the target as Gill and Rohit Sharma produced a record-breaking opening partnership of 255 runs. It was India's second-highest opening stand in ODI cricket, behind Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly's 258-run partnership.
Rohit struck a spectacular century off 72 balls and eventually scored 101 from 75 deliveries. Gill was even more destructive, smashing an unbeaten 223 off just 113 balls.
Gill's knock became the highest individual score by a captain in ODI cricket, surpassing Virender Sehwag's previous record. He also registered the fastest double century in the format.
Virat Kohli contributed 29 runs, while Ruturaj Gaikwad remained unbeaten on 31 as India reached the target with 39 balls to spare and completed an eight-wicket victory.
The win gave India an unassailable lead in the three-match ODI series.
