Kundapur, Oct 1: Seven people were injured in a serious accident involving two cars near Badakere Cross along the National Highway.

The accident occurred when a car travelling towards Kundapur from the Arehole bypass side collided with another car heading from Kundapur towards Shiruru.

The injured were shifted to a private hospital in Kundapur, where they are undergoing treatment. Gangolli police officials visited the spot and registered a case.

Local residents expressed concern over frequent accidents in the area, stating that several crashes have been reported at the location.

Residents said vehicles coming from the Badakere side directly enter and stop on the National Highway, creating a safety hazard. They said repeated requests have been made to the concerned authorities to provide a proper service road, turning facility and traffic control measures, but no permanent solution has been implemented so far.

The public has urged the National Highways Authority and other concerned officials to inspect the location and take immediate road safety measures to prevent further accidents.

Residents have also called for the installation of CCTV cameras at Badakere Cross to monitor vehicular movement and help prevent recurring accidents.
