Udupi, Oct 1: A 27-year-old woman died under suspicious circumstances at Shedimane in the taluk on September 29, following which her mother has approached the Amasebailu police, expressing suspicion over the death.

The deceased has been identified as Malini. She was living at Shedimane with her husband Santhosh, their children Manvi, Sanvita and Manvita, and her mother Jalaja Poojari.

According to the complaint filed by Jalaja Poojari, she received information at the cashew factory where she works that the children at home were unwell. She reached home at around 4 pm and found Malini lying outside the room after being pulled out through the doorway, with one of her legs resting on the door frame.

Jalaja Poojari was reportedly informed that Malini had locked the room from inside between 1.45 pm and 2.30 pm and allegedly attempted suicide. At that time, Santhosh's friend Premalatha, who had arrived at the house, allegedly noticed the situation, climbed onto the roof, removed three roof tiles, entered the room and brought Malini down from the noose before pulling her outside in an attempt to save her.

Jalaja Poojari has stated in her complaint that Malini had been married for eight years and that there had been differences between the couple, although they continued to live together.

The mother has expressed suspicion over her daughter's death, particularly because Premalatha was allegedly the only person present at the house around the time of the incident, and has sought an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Malini's death.
