Mangaluru: St Aloysius University holds Aloysian Fest–2026: Utopia

Mangaluru, Oct 1: St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), Mangaluru, organized Aloysian Fest–2026: Utopia, a national-level inter-collegiate fest for undergraduate students on September 26, bringing together young talents from various colleges to celebrate creativity, culture, innovation, and healthy competition.

Distinguished dignitaries, faculty members, student coordinators, and participants from various institutions inaugurated the fest. The programme featured an array of competitions and activities designed to provide a platform for undergraduate students to showcase their talents, develop confidence, and foster teamwork and camaraderie.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by Anvitha Sagar, entrepreneur and cine artiste, as the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, she reflected on the importance of student life, describing it as one of the best phases of life. She encouraged students to make the most of their college years before stepping into the 'Ocean Outside' the wider world of professional and personal responsibilities. She urged the students not to perceive their academic years as a burden, but rather to embrace the opportunities available to them, explore their interests, develop their talents, and make the best use of this important phase of life.

Presiding over the inaugural ceremony, Dr Praveen Martis SJ, vice-chancellor of St Aloysius University, highlighted the national character of Aloysian Fest 2026, noting that students had gathered from different states and districts to participate in the celebration. He warmly welcomed and greeted all the participating students and appreciated their enthusiasm and spirit of participation. He also drew inspiration from the journey of Anvitha Sagar, highlighting how hard work, determination, and a strong desire to accomplish one's goals require patience and perseverance. Her journey, he noted, serves as an encouragement to students to remain committed to their aspirations and patiently work towards achieving them.

Pro-vice chancellor Dr Melwyn D'Cunha SJ, fest coordinators Jovita Carrol Soans, Jeesu George, Dr Ambarish and Nandini, along with student coordinators Gagan S Shetty, Suhani Bangera, Arshish and Dahlen Dias were present on the dais.

Jovita Carrol Soans welcomed the gathering, and Dahlen Dias rendered the vote of thanks. Zenia compered the programme.

The fest concluded with a valedictory programme presided over by Dr Melwyn D'Cunha SJ, pro-vice chancellor of St Aloysius University. The chief guest, Dr Asha Abraham, associate professor, department of biotechnology, emphasized that participation is an achievement in itself. She encouraged the students to look beyond winning and losing, noting that while some participants may return with prizes and others with participation certificates, the true value lies in having the courage to step forward, showcase their talents, and actively take part in the events. She urged the students to value the experience, confidence, and memories gained through participation, which contribute significantly to their personal growth.

Nandini welcomes the gathering, and Gagan S Shetty proposed the vote of thanks, and Mahalakshmi compered the programme.

The six fests – Kaltriveda (cultural), Ark of Arts (humanities), Saksham (social work), Udgam (commerce), Quanta (physical sciences), and Synapse (biological sciences) – came together under the banner of Aloysian Fest 2026, providing a vibrant platform for undergraduate students to showcase their talents, creativity, knowledge, and skills. The combined celebration featured a diverse range of competitions and activities, fostering healthy competition, teamwork, cultural exchange, and meaningful interactions among students from various colleges.

The fest witnessed enthusiastic participation from undergraduate students representing various colleges, who competed in a range of cultural, literary, creative, and other events. The competitions provided opportunities for students to demonstrate their abilities, exchange ideas, and build meaningful connections.

Aloysian Fest–2026 served as a vibrant platform for undergraduate students to explore their potential, celebrate diversity, and create lasting memories through meaningful inter-collegiate engagement.
