Mangaluru, Oct 2: The School Education Department has permitted schools to conduct special classes during the upcoming Dasara vacation, subject to certain conditions, to compensate for the holidays declared due to rain.

After considering requests submitted by heads of various schools and Block Education Officers (BEOs) in Dakshina Kannada district, the district DDPI has agreed to allow classes to be conducted from October 3 to 7 to compensate for the rain holidays. However, educational institutions that declare a holiday from October 3 must compensate for the rain holidays by conducting classes after Saturday afternoon.

The Education Department has imposed certain conditions for conducting classes from October 3. Accordingly, schools must obtain written consent from parents before allowing children to attend the classes and keep the consent letters on record at the school.

The schools have also been instructed to conduct an SDMC meeting and ensure that the headmaster and assistant teachers record the proceedings regarding the decision. Details of the measures taken and the classes being conducted must be submitted in writing to the respective Block Education Officers, the department has instructed.
