Lucknow, Oct 2: The Congress on Friday appointed Aradhana Mishra as the new president of its Uttar Pradesh unit ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections, replacing Ajay Rai.
Saharanpur MP Imran Masood has been appointed working president of the Uttar Pradesh Congress, while Devendra Nishad and Alok Prasad have been named senior vice-presidents.

Aradhana Mishra, popularly known as Aradhana Mishra Mona, is the daughter of senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Pramod Tiwari. A three-time MLA from Rampur Khas in Pratapgarh district, she has been active in the party’s Uttar Pradesh unit.
The organisational changes come as the Congress prepares for the 2027 Assembly elections and seeks to strengthen its organisation and outreach across the state.
Mishra’s appointment also comes in the context of the party’s efforts to expand its outreach among Brahmin voters in Uttar Pradesh. Her appointment places a woman leader at the helm of the state unit while also giving the party a prominent Brahmin face ahead of the polls.
The Rampur Khas Assembly constituency has remained with the Congress since 1980. Mishra is considered close to Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and has played an active role in the party’s state-level activities.
With the new appointments, the Congress has reconstituted its Uttar Pradesh leadership team as it begins preparations for the 2027 Assembly elections.
