UAE calls FlyDubai co-pilot attack a ‘terrorist attack’

Daijiworld Media Network - Dubai

Dubai, Oct 3: The United Arab Emirates on Saturday described an incident in which the co-pilot of a FlyDubai flight allegedly attacked the captain with a cockpit crash axe as a “terrorist attack”.

The UAE statement, citing the attorney general, said the co-pilot also attempted to take control of the aircraft during Wednesday's incident involving the Israel-bound flight carrying 182 people.

Passengers and crew members intervened, subdued the co-pilot and helped stabilise the aircraft, according to the statement.

Authorities are investigating the incident and the circumstances surrounding the alleged attack.
