Sullia: Woman injured in Kanakamajalu road mishap succumbs in hospital

Sullia, Oct 4: A 60-year-old female pedestrian, who was severely injured after being knocked down by a goods vehicle near Kanakamajalu, succumbed to her injuries at the district hospital in Mangaluru on Saturday, October 3.

The deceased has been identified as Padmavathi (60), a resident of Moorje in Kanakamajalu.

The accident occurred on September 30. Padmavathi had visited a shop in Kanakamajalu town and was standing by the roadside in the evening waiting to cross the road. During this time, a goods vehicle travelling from Puttur towards Sullia struck her.

The impact of the collision threw her onto the road, resulting in severe injuries to the back of her head and other parts of her body. Locals immediately rushed her to the Sullia government hospital. After receiving preliminary treatment, she was shifted to the Mangaluru district hospital for advanced care. However, she failed to respond to the treatment and breathed her last on Saturday.

A case has been registered at the Sullia police station against the goods vehicle driver, Mahabala Poojary, in connection with the incident.
