Mangaluru, Oct 4: Dakshina Kannada district in-charge and health minister U T Khader has issued a stern warning to owners of paying guest (PG) accommodations, hostels, and hotels, emphasizing that providing quality food is their primary responsibility and they must not play with people's health merely for the sake of profit.

Speaking to media persons here on Saturday regarding the ongoing inspections of hostels and PGs by officials, the minister stated that authorities will conduct thorough checks whenever a complaint is registered. He noted that a QR code system has been introduced to make it easier for the common people to seek assistance and report issues.

"Officials will carry out strict inspections across all food establishments, ranging from canteens in major hospitals to small hotels, PGs, and hostels," Khader said.

He further explained that the public is encouraged to file complaints if they come across substandard or unhygienic food. "These complaints are routed directly to the department's mobile system. Upon receiving a complaint, it is mandatory for the concerned officials to visit the spot, inspect the premises, and submit a detailed report," the minister added.
