Mangalore, Apr 1: The Christian community in the city celebrated Palm Sunday, the holy Sunday before Good Friday that marks the end of Lent, on April 1 in various parishes.

At St Sebastian Church, Bendur, the devotees marched in a procession carrying palm leaves which were ealier blessed by parish priest Fr Antony Serrao at St Theresa School ground.

Palm Sunday marks the arrival of Jesus Christ in Jerusalem, where his disciples gave him a warm welcome by waving palm leaves, a gesture to signify the victory of good over evil. Palm Sunday also marks the beginning of the Holy Week.

Thousands of devotees carrying palm leaves marched in unison in different parishes across the city, including Milagres, Valencia and Kulshekar.

At Infant Jesus Shrine, Bikarnakatte, the celebration began with blessings of Palms near the Grotto of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

Fr Pius James D’Souza, Superior blessed the Palms after which the gathering marched towards the altar in a procession carrying the palms in their hands.

The main celebrant of the Holy Eucharist was Fr Pius James D’Souza, along with the other priests Fr Deepak Tauro, Fr Melwyn, Fr Steven Pereira and Fr Alias D’Souza.

The devotees took part in the celebration meditating upon the suffering of Jesus Christ on the way to his crucifiction.

Palm Sunday's history and meaning in relation to the Christian belief in Jesus
and his ascension. God surrendered for the sins we commited, so let us leave what has happened, the sins aside and try to live and be example to all those who are not leading good and true life, I guess then from now on we make it a practice We forgive from our heats those who do unto us bad Some day if we were to hurt someone the same way We’d definitely not want to be the reason they’re sad. So now on lets think in deep the meaning and let live a good life, there is no better life than forgiveness and forget the past and live the present. May the almightly be upon everyone and bless us abundantly

    Palm Sunday
    What a 'Day'
To dwell on the Lord's 'Say'
Who meaningfully said 'I'm the 'Way'!

Wonderful and beautiful pictures by our Daya. I was there last year at this time for three months and I was not aware of this network. I would have definitely visited your office. I will be back in September with my family for a marriage and hopefully meet you and your staff as especially Walter Nandalike. I wish you all a HOLY PALM SUNDAY and the coming GOOD FRIDAY and a HAPPY EASTER. I liked the procession of the devotees with the palm leaves in every body's hand.

Christians all over the world celebrated Palm Sunday today. It is a special day for believers because
Palm Sunday marks the arrival of Jesus Christ in Jerusalem, where his disciples gave him a warm welcome by waving palm leaves, a gesture to signify the victory of good over evil. Palm Sunday also marks the beginning of the Holy Week.

Easter is coming and it should be a time for a change in life to get rid of weakness and one shall become aware of the need of others, to look after the poor.

Easter is a time of happiness and joy, families gather, friends meet one another.

It is a wonderful opportunity to go to church, to mediate, to pray to worship and to read the Bible.

Easter gives us the chance for a radical new beginning, a meaning of life waits for us.

Here in Oldenburg/Germany spring is in the air. Sunny days and around 16 degrees outside make people happy and smile.

Easter gives us hope and the certainty that the victory of good over evil will happen.

Jesus died on the cross and HIS resurrection is a mystery human beings cannot comprehend.

I love Easter because we all receive hope, love and the certainty for a better life.

But we must never abandon the poor. They have the same right for a life in dignity and their children should have the chance for a life in peace.

It is up to us to see Easter as a chance to start a new life.

    Best regards
