Mystery stone-throwing leaves Andhra village residents terrified

Amaravati, Oct 4: Fear has gripped residents of a village in Andhra Pradesh’s Anantapur district following mysterious incidents of stones being thrown at houses during night hours.

The incidents have been reported from Appajipeta village in Pimdi mandal, where residents approached the police seeking action. Following their complaint, police deployed four constables to patrol the area.

However, despite the police personnel maintaining a vigil for two days, the mysterious stone-throwing has continued.

Villagers said around 20 youths from the village, along with the police, kept watch from a nearby hillock. Despite the tight vigil, stones continued to fall on the rooftops.

According to locals, the stone-throwing has been occurring for the past one week, with heavy stones falling on the roofs soon after nightfall.

They said all efforts made with the cooperation of the police had failed to establish the source of the stone-throwing.

Initially, the villagers suspected that miscreants were behind the incidents and approached the authorities seeking action. However, with police patrols and the vigil maintained by local youths failing to stop the incidents, residents are now living in fear.

Terrified villagers have started locking themselves inside their homes soon after sunset.

The villagers showed stones that had fallen on rooftops to local media personnel who visited the village. A couple of residents also sustained minor injuries in the incidents.

According to the villagers, stones begin raining down on rooftops at around 10 p.m. and continue to fall intermittently. The stones are reportedly being pelted at intervals of a few minutes.

As most houses in the village have asbestos roofs, the stone-throwing has also caused damage to the structures.

Some villagers suspect paranormal activity behind the incidents. Saying they have been spending sleepless nights, they appealed to the authorities to investigate the matter and come to their rescue.

Similar incidents of mysterious stone-throwing have been reported in the past from a couple of villages in both Telugu states.

In 2024, a village in Tamil Nadu’s Tiruppur district also witnessed a similar mysterious phenomenon.
