Mangaluru/Udupi, Oct 5: Rain is currently lashing several parts of Dakshina Kannada (DK) and Udupi districts, with the coastal region expected to receive more showers over the coming days. The weather department has forecast continued rainfall in the coastal districts, with the spell likely to persist until October 11.
The change in weather is attributed to a surface cyclonic circulation that has developed over the Arabian Sea near the Karnataka coast. Despite the southwest monsoon withdrawing, several parts of the state are continuing to receive rainfall.

In the coastal region, Dakshina Kannada and Udupi, along with Kasargod, are likely to receive thunderstorms, particularly during the afternoon and evening. Uttara Kannada is also expected to experience cloudy weather and light rainfall, with rain likely to continue until October 11.
In the Malnad region, Kodagu, Sakleshpur in Hassan district, Chikkamagaluru and Shivamogga are likely to receive good rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms during the evening. The intensity of rainfall in these areas is expected to continue until October 10 or 11.
In South Interior Karnataka, most districts, including Mysuru, Mandya, Bengaluru, Ramanagara, Tumakuru and Kolar, are likely to receive thunderstorms during the evening and night until October 6.
North Interior Karnataka is expected to remain largely dry, with sunny conditions and partly cloudy weather likely to continue in some areas over the next 10 days.
The influence of the low-pressure area or cyclonic circulation over the Arabian Sea is also expected to bring rainfall to parts of South Interior Karnataka over the next three days.
Overall, rainfall is expected to gradually ease across most parts of Karnataka after October 11. The public and travellers are advised to keep track of weather conditions and plan their journeys and daily activities accordingly.
