Media Release

Mangaluru, Oct 6: K S Hegde Medical Academy, a constituent college of Nitte (Deemed to be University), is inviting the people of Mangaluru to come together for #MoveForHope 2026, a breast cancer awareness walkathon and run to be held on October 10 from 6:00 am to 7:30 am.

The event will begin at Nitte Day Care Clinic, Pumpwell, proceed towards Balmatta and return to the starting point. Open to walkers and runners, the initiative aims to bring the community together to raise awareness about breast cancer, encourage timely screening and promote conversations around prevention and early action.

Participants are requested to wear light pink T-shirts as a sign of solidarity. As part of the event's sustainability focus, participants are also encouraged to bring their own water bottles, with refill facilities available along the route. Single-use water bottles and event T-shirts will not be distributed.

To encourage wider participation, poster and reel competitions are also being organized as part of #MoveForHope 2026, offering participants an opportunity to creatively contribute to the awareness campaign. E-certificates will be provided to participants, adding another reason for students, professionals, families and community groups to take part.

The initiative is supported by several professional, social and community organizations from Mangaluru and beyond, further strengthening the collective message of awareness and support.

K S Hegde Medical Academy and Nitte University invite the people of Mangaluru to walk, run, participate and help spread the message.
