Los Angeles, Oct 7: Oscar-winning actress Eva Marie Saint, best known for her acclaimed performances in “On the Waterfront” and Alfred Hitchcock’s “North by Northwest”, has died at the age of 102.
Saint died of natural causes at her Los Angeles home on Tuesday, October 6, surrounded by family, according to reports. Her death was confirmed by family representative Jeff Sanderson.

She is survived by her two children, Darrell and Laurette, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Born on July 4, 1924, in Newark, New Jersey, Saint studied at Bowling Green State University in Ohio before beginning her career in television and radio.
She made her first screen appearance as a spokeswoman on the game show “Campus Hoopla” in 1946 and worked in television and radio for nearly a decade before making her Broadway debut in “The Trip to Bountiful” in 1953.
Saint made her feature film debut with the 1954 classic “On the Waterfront”, earning the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance.
She later appeared in several notable films, including “North by Northwest”, “Raintree County”, “Exodus”, “All Fall Down”, “36 Hours”, “The Sandpiper”, “Grand Prix”, “The Stalking Moon” and “Superman Returns”.
News of her death prompted tributes from fans and members of the film industry, marking the passing of one of Hollywood’s celebrated performers.
