CFAL announces second edition of CST 2026: Online entrance, scholarship test for grade 10 students

Media Release

Mangaluru, Oct 7: Centre for Advanced Learning (CFAL) has announced the second edition of the CFAL Scholar Selection Test (CST) 2026, an aptitude-based entrance and scholarship examination for students currently studying in grade 10. The announcement follows the first edition of CST, held on September 13, which drew students from 65 different schools across Karnataka.

The second edition will be a two-hour online examination, held on October 11 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. The assessment will cover three common subjects: Physics, Chemistry and Logical Reasoning. Students can then choose a fourth subject, either Biology or Mathematics, based on their area of interest.

Students who perform strongly in the examination will be eligible for merit scholarships.

Why This Initiative Matters

1. Reasoning before Recall

Higher education and competitive examinations increasingly reward students who can read a question closely, link ideas together and reason their way to an answer. CST is built around this skill. Rather than counting how much a student remembers, it looks at how well they put their knowledge to use.

2. Early Recognition as a CFAL Scholar

Students who do well in CST can earn merit scholarships and early recognition as CFAL Scholars. They join CFAL students who have gone on to the IITs and IISc, studied at institutions such as Stanford and Harvard, and represented India at international Olympiads.

3. A Head Start on What Comes Next

Grade 10 is when many students begin deciding on streams, subjects and the examinations they want to prepare for. CST gives them an early experience of questions that call for deeper reasoning, and a clearer sense of where their strengths lie.

A Message to Parents

Report cards tell parents how a child has done in school. CST shows something different: how they approach a problem they haven’t met before. It’s a low-pressure way to see that side of their thinking, well before board exams and entrance tests make the stakes higher. And for students who perform strongly, merit scholarships and early recognition as CFAL Scholars make the test all the more worthwhile.

The Bigger Picture

With the second edition of CST 2026, CFAL continues to look for promising students and to encourage grade 10 learners to measure themselves by more than marks. The idea behind the test is simple: what counts is not only what a student knows, but how well they can think with it. CST is part of CFAL’s wider effort to nurture curiosity and academic potential.
