Mumbai, Oct 7: India batter Shreyas Iyer climbed 18 places to a career-best seventh position in the latest ICC men’s T20I batting rankings after scoring his maiden century in the format against West Indies.
Iyer smashed an unbeaten 43-ball 102 in the first T20I in Lucknow to help India defeat West Indies in the series opener. He is now the third-highest-ranked Indian batter, behind Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma.
Kishan retained the top position after scoring an unbeaten 27-ball 37, while Abhishek remained second after making 21 off 10 balls. Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan, England’s Harry Brook and Jos Buttler, and South Africa’s Dewald Brevis are placed between the two Indian batters and Iyer.

West Indies batter Sherfane Rutherford was another notable mover, climbing 10 places from 47th to 37th after scoring 56 off 34 balls.
In the T20I bowling rankings, Pakistan’s Abrar Ahmed slipped from the top position to second, with Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan reclaiming the No. 1 spot. Abrar went wicketless for 29 runs and then took one wicket for 29 runs in the Asian Games semi-final and final.
Rashid has now occupied the top spot for the eighth time in his career and has spent more time at No. 1 than any other bowler.
India all-rounder Axar Patel climbed 16 places to seventh after taking four wickets in two matches at the Asian Games and returning figures of 2 for 26 against West Indies. Bangladesh spinners Nasum Ahmed and Mahedi Hasan also moved up, reaching eighth and ninth positions respectively.
In the ODI batting rankings, Shubman Gill strengthened his position at the top after scoring an unbeaten 223 in the second ODI against West Indies, his second double century in the format. He extended his lead over New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell to 47 rating points.
Mitchell moved to second after India’s Virat Kohli slipped to third. Kohli had scored a century in the first ODI but followed it with scores of 29 and a duck in the next two matches.
West Indies captain Shai Hope climbed two places to sixth after scoring an unbeaten 162 in the third ODI against India. India’s KL Rahul, who also scored a century in the match, rose seven places to 10th despite his innings coming in a losing cause.
Among ODI bowlers, West Indies pacer Jayden Seales entered the top 10 at No. 10 after rising 12 places following his three-wicket haul in the third ODI against India.
