Mangaluru, Oct 7: Forty years of compassion, commitment, and excellence in nursing education were celebrated with grandeur as Father Muller College of Nursing (FMCON) marked its ruby jubilee on Wednesday, October 7. The celebration also witnessed the formal inauguration of the 40th batch of BSc Nursing, 39th batch of PB BSc Nursing, and 35th batch of MSc Nursing for the academic year 2026–27.

The celebration, held at 9:30 am, brought together dignitaries, alumni, parents, faculty, staff, students, and the newly admitted batches, creating a memorable convergence of FMCON's glorious past, vibrant present, and promising future.

Adding a distinctive touch to the celebration, 40 alumni representing the 40-year journey of FMCON led a ceremonial procession, symbolising the generations of nurses who have carried the values and legacy of the institution across the country and beyond.

The programme commenced with a prayer led by the 1st BSc Nursing students, followed by the welcome address by Fr Faustine Lucas Lobo, director. The ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries marked the official inauguration of the new academic batches and the ruby jubilee celebrations.

Delivering the ruby jubilee keynote address, Sr Dr Dhanya Devasia, principal, FMCON, reflected on the institution's remarkable four-decade journey and its continuing commitment to shaping competent, compassionate, and value-driven nursing professionals.

A major highlight of the celebration was the launch of the ruby jubilee countdown clock, symbolically setting the institution on its journey towards the culmination of its 40th-anniversary celebrations. The ruby jubilee logo and theme were also unveiled on the occasion.

Chief guest Dr Christopher Sudhakar, director – quality and compliance, MAHE, addressed the gathering and shared valuable insights and encouragement with the institution and the young nursing aspirants.

The presidential address was delivered by Bishop Emeritus Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza, Diocese of Mangalore, who congratulated Father Muller College of Nursing on completing four decades of service and inspired the new generation of students to uphold the institution's values of excellence, compassion, and service.

The programme concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr Agnes E J, vice principal, FMCON, followed by the institution anthem.

Earlier in the day, a thanksgiving eucharistic celebration was held at 7:30 am with Fr Faustine Lucas Lobo, director FMCI as the main celebrant. In his homily, he preached that the services rendered by the nurses are a resonance of the words of Christ 'Love Thy Neighbour'. He emphasized that although lucrative offers are abundant, a nurse's duty is the non-negotiable cornerstone in healthcare. The faculty and students alike offered thanksgiving through their offerings and prayers.

The ruby jubilee celebration was not merely a commemoration of 40 years—it was a celebration of thousands of nursing professionals shaped by FMCON, countless lives touched through service, and a renewed commitment to the future of nursing. As the institution steps into its 40th year, FMCON continues its journey with the same foundational spirit of knowledge, compassion, service, and excellence, welcoming a new generation of nurses who will carry its legacy forward.
