Mangaluru, Oct 8: Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) commissioner Rahul Rathnam Pandey visited the Jayashree Gate area near Bikarnakatte and reviewed various civic issues faced by local residents.

During the visit, local resident Stany Bantwal apprised the commissioner of the lack of an underground drainage system and other issues arising from the National Highway and civic authorities, which residents said have affected development in the area.

The locality has several temples, churches, mosques, schools, colleges, shops and malls, resulting in significant movement of people. Residents highlighted that dirty drainage water sometimes flows onto the National Highway due to the lack of a proper drainage system.

They also brought to the commissioner's notice the inadequate street lighting and other civic concerns in the area.

MCC officials Naresh Shenoy, Puneeth, Manjunath, Shivlingappa and others were present during the inspection. Former mayor P M Castelino, Kiran Castelino, Vincent Rodrigues, Prakash Saldanha, Jeevan, Shameer, Sharief and other local residents also attended.

Commissioner Rahul Rathnam Pandey directed the officials concerned to prepare and submit a report on the issues raised by the residents. He assured the people that necessary steps would be taken at the earliest to address their problems.
