Mangaluru, Oct 8: The Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) collected a total of Rs 7,20,500 in fines from commercial establishments for violating rules during a major special inspection drive conducted by a team of 100 officials on October 7.

The fines were imposed on the spot against commercial establishments for failing to segregate waste, using banned plastic, maintaining unhygienic conditions and failing to renew trade licences.

The MCC has urged commercial establishment owners and the public to strictly comply with solid waste management rules and cooperate with the civic body to avoid penalties.
