11 Taliban Killed in Afghanistan


Kabul, Apr 1 (IANS): At least 11 Taliban militants were killed, 13 were arrested and 35 surrendered in a countrywide operation in Afghanistan, the interior ministry said Sunday.

Police, army and NATO-led forces launched 15 operations in 10 provinces, Xinhua reported.

A total of 35 Taliban men surrendered to the government in the western province of Herat, 640 km west of Kabul.

According to the government, over 3,000 Taliban men have laid down arms over the past one year.
