British kids cannot locate their country on Map

London, Apr 2 (IANS): Over three-fourth of the British children have been abroad but one in 10 cannot find their country on a map and many admit being doubtful about Britain being in Europe, a survey has found.

The Heathrow airport study of 1,000 children aged six to 10 also revealed 40 percent did not know that Britain was in Europe, the Daily Express reported Monday. Half could not find Spain on the map and a third did not know where France was.

Not just that, explaining their lack of geographic knowledge, 24 percent said they did not know what an atlas was.

Heathrow has installed giant globes in its terminals in time for the Easter holidays to help children to locate their destinations...and maybe that of Britain.
