Mother, daughter suffer burns in LPG cylinder blast at Vasco

Panaji, Oct 9: Two women, a mother and her daughter, sustained burn injuries after an explosion caused by an LPG cylinder leak at New Vaddem in Vasco early Thursday morning.

The injured have been identified as Hema Godchi (37) and Sumitra Kambi (27). Both were residing in a house adjacent to a shop near the New Vaddem bus stop.

The incident occurred around 4 am. According to police, Kambi sustained around 30 per cent burn injuries, while Godchi suffered approximately 20 per cent burns. Both were shifted to Goa Medical College (GMC), Bambolim, for treatment.

The children, who usually slept in the affected section of the room, had been moved to another room and escaped unhurt.

Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar assured the victims’ family that compensation would be provided from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
