Mangalore, Apr 2:
The proposal to upgrade Mangalore central railway station to international standards has met a roadblock.

At a meeting of officials of the railway department and engineers of the National HIghway Railway Authority (NHAI) and Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) on Monday April 2, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel informed that though the then railway minister Mamata Banerjee had proposed upgrading of Mangalore Central railway station to international standards, currently all attention is being given only to Delhi railway.

"However, pressure will be put in the parliament to facilitate the work," he told reporters while briefing after the meeting in DC's office conference hall.

He also stressed on the point that all works and proposals by Mangalore railway commuters have been delayed as Mangalore is not a separate railway division, but under included the Palghat division. He said that it should be linked to either Mysore or Hubli division as a temporary measure, and later made a separate division. Kateel pointed out that there was no coordination between Konkan, Mysore and Palghat divisions.

He further added that survey work for construction of railway under the bridge in Jeppu Mahakalipadpu road was to Rights company, and also, Rs 2.50 lac was released.

"However, the work was not carried out by the company, and a notice will be sent to them. If the survey work is not initiated within 5 days, legal action will be taken," he assured.

About water logging problem in Kenjar vicinity due to work on widening the railway tracks, the MP said that the railway department has been asked to take action before the rainy season starts. On the four-laning of NH 48 under Padil railway overbridge, he said the proposal has been already sent and the sanctioning process is under way.

Construction of foot overbridge at Bantwal Railway station has been implemented. He also revealed that work on building a 4th platform at Central railway station is under way.

During the meeting, the MP chided MCC engineers for not following up the works.

Dy speaker Yogish Bhat said that the proposal of road widening work from Garody to Kankanady railway station which saves two km for passengers is under consideration. As private residents are less in the area, the proposal can be considered, he said.

There were a flow of complaints from members of railway commuters' forum who said cleanness in Kabaka-Puttur train is not maintained. There was no water in Kankanady railway station, also, waste thrown on tracks in Central railway station has made it dirty. Also, in Kankanady station there are no lights, which causes problems to the passengers, they said.

Puttur railway station could be a model one if the platform extension among other works is completed, a railway department official said.

Proposal has been sent for the development of approach road to Subrahmanya railway station. Lights and platform also will be developed, it was said at the meeting.

Nalin Kumar is indeed an MP (Mooka Prekshaka) in Parliament! Please recommend one good vaccum cleaner to Nalin Kumar because only though vaccum cleaner that he can put pressure on Parliament and he's fit for that! Funny claim by a man whose only merit to secure MP's seat was organizing homas, yagas, renovation of temples etc. The only language he speaks properly is Tulu and he wants to exhert pressure on Parliament! Get out of your hang-over Mr MP. Either he's making a fool of himself or thinking that all those vote for him are fools!

Who told that he can speak Kannada? The way he speaks Kannada, it might create serious doubts about his hailing from Karnataka. If there's anyone who does not deserve to be an MP on any count, then it should be Nalin Kumar. He represents a party whose claims of patriotism might even send shivers down the spines of our military! and yet one of its MP representing a constituency known for high standards of education can't even speak properly in the Parliament. Speech on international standards by person who has never and can never cross regional standards makes no sense. He better hold one puja for himself so that gods may hasten for his rescue. If not after the next election he will have serious STAND-DARD (pain for standing for election)!

This is a direct result when people come into power with religion and the agenda around! Let us enjoy it now! We can do better if we can separate religion and governance....People of Udupi and around learned the hard way recently! Let us learn by experience and try to elect a educated, a good orator and a result oriented fighter....rather than a name sake in the name of God!!!!! Daiji may not publish it, still I write with a hope of improvement!

Dear RR, Mangalore you forgot to add the important part. what language he should speak at the parliament. Kannada?Tulu?. what language he should speak when he is representing a constituency which has highest number of colleges and universities. He is just raising the issues based on the complaints filed by people of Mangalore. If he is capable or able then he should go and meet the railway minister and explain him what Mangalore needs. What is the point in giving a statement in Mangalore.

    Dear Nalin Anna,

We appreciate your efforts for development of Railway, NH etc. We seek more in future from you.

For any problem with respect to Railways please directly approach RLWY minsiter Mukul Roy. He may do something. It is waste talking to dumb Muniyappa. He is a poor and incapable man.

Please pressurize Mukul Roy to extend Kannur train to Karwar.

It is because of your efforts that Surathkal flyover completed last month. You have the capabilities to deliver more.

We need very young and dynamic people like in our Karunadu..

Jai Nalin, Jai Karnataka, Jai BJP..

International railway station standard means a railway station were only a few will understand each others language and the local language.

In the present day Mangalore railway station, does anybody understand the local language. Why spend money, when Mangalore Railway Station is already International.

Great !Nalin Kumar has come to the rescue of railway stations. Few days back he had given a deadline 31st March 2012 for NHAI to complete the work from B.C Road to Surathkal Highway . Can you please tell us whether the work is complete? Everyone in Mangalore knows that the work is still incomplete and moving in a snails pace . Quality of flyover is also worldclass ... looks like it is built in 1920s.I can imagine what kind of Railway station will we have . Let us first make our railway trains modern and then think about the stations. Railway Stations are stinking in India with all human waste falling on the tracks .Only 'GOD'knows when will India have good clean trains free from Rats & Cockroaches. To know what is International Standards our Ministers should go and see Dubai / Singapore /China etc along with MCC members.only then they will come to know whether the roads and stations that they construct are of what standards. Nothing but zero standard.

Kateel Saab, as an MP of Mangalore, it reflects on your failure. As a "pakka" politician, you have only given excuses for your failures. Most of your time is spent on attending "Inauguration functions". High time you devote your precious time for the welfare of the people who elected you.

How can the present Railway Ministry approve any developmental projects? Where the money will come from? Mamata had shot down Mr. Trivedi's budget. While she will lead a comforable ministerial life in West Bengal, our railway commuters in Mangalore will use the 100 year old facility. We should invite Mamata to use the Toilets in the Mangalore Railway Station may be ! then she may ask her Railway Minister to raise the budget allocation for development of our Railways.

With MP like Nalini Kumar Kateel, the best you can get is a lecture. Has he done anything in the last 3 and odd years. Our neighbouring state has taken out all the benifits, we mangaloreans have been only witness to their progress. When you think of MP like Nalini, I whole heartedly agree with Anna's clause of calling back the elected leaders, though it may be impractical apply
