Taiz, Oct 12: Yemeni government forces have intensified military operations against Houthi positions, launching multiple air strikes on troop concentrations along the eastern and northeastern fronts of Taiz city amid escalating fighting in the area.

The air strikes targeted several positions held by the Ansar Allah Houthi movement, including the Al Qasr front, where approximately three strikes were reported, and the northeastern front around the Usayfirah area.

The strikes followed a large-scale Houthi offensive launched on Saturday against positions held by Yemeni government forces. The assault reportedly continued for several hours and involved various types of weapons, accompanied by intense artillery shelling.

Government forces said they had repelled the attacks on multiple fronts simultaneously, inflicting casualties and destroying military equipment belonging to the Houthi fighters.

Field sources also reported the continued arrival of reinforcements for government forces, particularly along the Al-Shaqab and Al-Aqrud fronts, as military activity intensified around Taiz.

Fighting remains intense along the southern and western approaches to the city, as well as on several other fronts surrounding the urban area. The latest air strikes form part of broader efforts by government forces to counter Houthi advances and strengthen their positions.

Meanwhile, government military operations are continuing along Yemen's western coast, particularly in the Dhubab and Al-Waziiya districts. Government forces have reportedly launched operations across coastal areas and into the mountainous terrain inland.

The latest escalation underscores the continuing volatility of the conflict in Yemen, where government forces and the Houthi movement remain engaged in fighting across multiple strategic fronts.
