Sudden Rain Lashes North Karnataka


Hubli, Apr 5 DHNS : Four districts in North Karnataka - Dharwad, Belgaum, Gadag and Bagalkot - received heavy rain accompanied by hail storm, on Wednesday. Some parts of Bijapur also received rain.

Hail storm accompanied by rain lashed the Belgaum City for about an hour, giving much-needed respite to the residents from scorching sun.






Power disrupted

The sudden shower caught the people unawares who ran for cover. Power supply was disconnected for four hours in the city.

Rains also brought relief to the drought-affected Athani town on Tuesday and Wednesday. Intermittent rain on two days brought the temperatures down in the taluk besides bringing cheer among the farming community.

Murugundi in the taluk received a good amount of rain.

Heavy storm with rain was also witnessed in Hukkeri, Yamakanamaradi in Hukkeri taluk and Ramadurg in Belgaum district. At Batakurki village, hails were the size of lemon blocking the traffic for while. A hut on Chinchili Road near Raibag has been destroyed due to lightning. 
 
In Bijapur

An ox died due to lightning in Kudari Salavadagi and farmer Devendrappa Balappa Kallimani has sustained injuries. Besides, a jowar granary at Haranala village was destroyed due to lightning.

Basavana Bagewadi, Chadachana and Huvina Hipparagi of Indi taluk received a good amount of rain. Sindhagi town witnessed slight drizzle while Bijapur had cloudy weather.

In Gadag

Belavanaki and surrounding areas in Ron taluk of the district have received rain with hail stones.
Rain lashed the Gadag town for more than half-an-hour. Hulakoti, Betageri and Kurtakoti in the district have also received rain.

In Bagalkot

Slight drizzle in Teradal, Mahalingapur and Mudhol brought temperatures down.

In Dharwad

Rain with hail stones lashed Kundagol in Dharwd district. Slight drizzle was reported in Navalgund, Hubli-Dharwad cities.

Gulbarga town too witnessed rain.
