Four Killed in Karachi Suicide Attack


Islamabad, Apr 5 (IANS): At least four people, including two policemen, were killed and 14 injured when a suicide bomber targeted a police official in Pakistan's port city of Karachi Thursday, Geo News reported. The official survived.

The banned outfit Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility for the attack.

According to police sources, a bomber rammed an explosives-laded motorbike into a police vehicle at Karachi's Malir Halt area killing four people, including two policemen. Fourteen others sustained injuries.

"The attack was against me. I was moving with my squad in Malir Halt district when the explosion took place. I am unhurt, but some of my men have been injured," Rao Anwar, a senior police official said, adding that he was being threatened for a month.

"The attacker was killed in the blast," said another official.

Earlier in the morning, about six to eight unidentified men shot dead three policemen at Karachi's Pir Illahi Bux (PIB) Colony. They intercepted the police mobile vehicle and opened fired at the patrolling party.
