Mangalore, Apr 5:
"There will be four KSRTC buses running in the city by this April end, and the letter in this regard has already reached the DC's office," said regional transport officer C Mallikarjuna.

He made this announcement on the sidelines of the Regional Transport Authority’s (RTA) 'adalat' here on Thursday April 5.

He added that the route of two buses has been decided as between Kankanady and Bykampady, while other routes are to be decided soon. He also said that automated chalan processors will be introduced in all the buses in the city limit within 2-3 months to avoid any discrepancy in issual of tickets.

Grievances from leaders of various heads like rickshaw drivers' and owners' association, bus owners' association, and the public, were received by Vijay Vikram, joint commissioner of the transport department.

Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) came under hot debate during the adalat, as out of the total 899-km of the road that comes within its limit, only 100 km has been concreted, and a mere 200 km asphaltised. "The rest of the stretch has not been taken care of, resulting in many auto rickshaws and other vehicles having to make frequent stops at garages, which in turn cause loss to the vehicle owners," said one of the participants in the meeting.

To a query, RTO Mallikarjuna said that there will be a new computerized kiosks (auto rickshaw prepaid counter) coming up in 15 days at central railway station wherein the registration number of the autorickshaw will be generated in the token. He also asked auto rickshaw owners to make use of the Rs 15,000 subsidy given to those who switch from 2-stroke to 4-stroke LPG fitted engines.

There was a proposal for bus service between Kateel and Dharmasthala, on which the RTO promised action soon.

Ashok Kumar Shetty of Janatha auto rickshaw drivers’ and owners’ association, Vishnu Murthy of DK district auto rickshaw drivers’ union, Jayaram Sheka, president of DK bus owners’ association among others were present.

OK many city roads and by pass roads in city have completed but what about rural or half city corporation roads like fr.J.B.Alvares road in kelarai, where nearly quarter of the road under city corporation has been repaired and the rest 60% still uncompleted which confusingly whether it belongs to Neermarga Panchayat or Taluk Panchayat as claimed by local elected members of this area with the contractor who had got the contract to patchwork this 1 km area has dissapered after completing just 10% at the other end. Same is true with the contractor getting contract to asphalt a new road beside Presidency School, Kelarai to Vamanjoor that has taken many many months and is just 80% complete and to leave a blemish a week back after asphalting the panchayat contracted water supply dept has dug up a pit in middle of the road.

Like in Singapore, let the KSRT operate Three types of buses e.g. Mini-bus, Regular-bus & Limited-stop AC-bus within the city limits.

Is the introduction of KSRTC city buses is for peoples benefits or bus lobbys ? there are no buses running between Kankanadi and Bikampady. It must be Mangala Devi and Katipalla. I doubt this project is to prove the project a LOSS and terminate the services as how it happend in Mangalore Udupi mini buses run by KSRTC.

Government is trying to fool the people by giving stupid reasons.Strong protest needed to weeken the lobbys.

very good decision. need more KSRTC bus. private bus must be reduced. (1) more important is standing only 10-12 people.
    (2) ticket must used as a "E" like other country. then only we can save time for make pass, we can reduce paper & clean city also.

Good contribution by our BJP Govt.
KSRTC should introduce city bus service all over Mangalore city.

Our Ashokanna has introduced many schemes after he became transport minister. Students till 7th class can travel free in city buses.

New transport unit Mangalore Transport Corporation (MTC, like BMTC) should be created in Mangalore.

R.T.O , please look into the matter of speeding bus and ensure proper training before issuing license. Following the Lane is very important. Its being observed that even the heavy trucks take right lane creating chaos and traffic clogging. The fact is without presence of person license is issued. No one is following the traffic rules, when we go on vacation to home town for couple of days we follow the traffic system, then we are also get used the system.

Are you guys again making Mangaloreans fool? Our Honourable Home minister as well as Transport Minister R.Ashok promised us before one or two years that there will be KSRTC buses within the city which are going to replace private buses. but till now he didn't have the will power to do it. private bus mafia in city is so powerful. If the RTO officials can do what they said, then i will really appreciate them. because KSRTC buses in the city is much needed as we are so fed up of Rash driving, rude behaviour of the conductors and horrible accidents done by Private buses.
