Bangalore: Puneet Rajkumar is Best Actor, Kalyani Best Actress for 2010-11

Bangalore, Apr 5: Kannada’s ''Kotyadhipathi,” Puneet Rajkumar, son of veteran Kannada film actor Dr Rajkjumar, has been adjudged as the Kannada filmdom’s best actor for the year 2010-11 while Kalyani is the best actress (Subbaiah Naidu Award) for their roles in Prithvi and Suicide films respectively.

The Kannada film Super directed by actor Upendra and produced by Rockline Productions bagged the first prize. The film Bhagwati Kaadu directed by K K Shivarudraiah and produced by Hamsalekha Image Pvt Ltd secured second prize.

Shabdamani produced by Renu Digital Studio and directed by Renukumar bagged the third best film award while Tarangini bagged the award in the category of social issue. The film was produced by Sri Parameshwari Arts and directed by Srinivas Kaushik.

Nanna Gopala bagged the award in the Children Film category and it was
produced by Ranga Kahale Creations and produced by C Lakshman.

The Dr Rajkumar Award for outstanding contribution to the Kannada film industry has gone to actor S Shivaram while veteran director Bhargava bagged the Puttanna Kanagal award. Both awards carry cash prizes of Rs 2 lakh and gold plated plaque.

Veteran Kannada actor and former Union Minister M H Ambareesh bagged the Dr Vishnuvardhan award for his contributions in various fields of the industry. The award comprises cash prize of Rs 2 lakh and gold plated plaque.

A 10-member selection committee headed Bharathi Vishnuvardhan selected 29 awards in various fields. The committee watched 52 films from February 13 to March 22, 2012.

Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda announced the awards at his home office Krishna. Kannada and Culture Minister Govind M Karjol was present at the news conference.

The producer and director of the first best film award would each get cash award Rs 1 lakh, a 50 gram gold medal and a plague while producer and director of the second best film award would get each cash prize of Rs. 75,000, a 100 gram silver medal and a plaque.

The director and producer of third best film would each get cash prize of Rs. 50,000, a 100 gram silver medal and a plaque.

The best actor and best actress awards comprised cash prize of Rs 20,000 and 100 gram silver medal and a plaque. The directors and producers also would get same amount of cash.

The producer of best social category film would get cash prize of 75,000, 50 gram gold medal and a plaque while the director would get cash prize of Rs. 75,000, 100 gram silver medal and a plaque.

The producer of best children film would get cash prize of Rs. 50,000, a 50 gram gold medal and a plaque and the director would get cash prize of Rs. 50,000, a 100 gram silver medal and a plaque.

Kannada writer Baragur Ramachandrappa bagged the award for his best dialogues in the film Bhoomi Thayi while Guru Kiran secured the best music director award for the film Mylari.

The film Prarthane directed by film journalist Sadashiva Shenoy bagged the Special Prize.

The Chief Minister said Vijayalakshmi Singh was selected for her best supporting actress role in the film Veeraparampare.

V Anil Kumar and Prakruthi bagged the best child artiste awards for their roles in Nanna Gopala and Hajjegalu.

Best dubbing awards gone to Sringeri Ramanna and Shashikala for their role in Veerabhavu and Shabdamani, respectively.

Writer and journalist Agni Sridhar received the best story writer award (film – Thamassu) while Satya V Heggade bagged the best photography award (film – Sanju Weds Geetha). The best screenplay award gone to B Suresh (film – Puttakkana Highway).

    Congrats to Puneet and others. Pls encourage Kannada movies atleast in Karnataka...for other states don't allow kannad movies in their theatres outside KA but other language movies are having a field day here...even some cheap 3rd class other language movie runs in Mlr but good kannada movies are blocked in Bombay, Hyd, Madras, Cochin.
