M'lore: Miscreants Pelt Stones at Bendore Church During Maundy Thursday Observance

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (PS)

Mangalore, Apr 5: A group of miscreants pelted stones at the devotees who had gathered to observe Maundy Thursday at St Sebastian Church.

Though initial reports stated that they had entered the premises of the Church, it is now learnt that they threw stones from outside the Church compound.

The incident occured at on Thursday April 5 at around 8.30 pm. A large number of parishioners were present at the time.

Claret Pinto (46), a resident of Bendorewell and one of the worshippers, was hurt on the head and has been admitted to a hospital.

Kadri police arrived at the spot and brought the situation under control.

The premises were vacated only later after the prayers, as a few of the people at the church kept guard at the entrance.

Rajya Sabha MP Oscar Fernandes and his wife Blossom visited Claret at the hospital.

The best teaching of Lord Jesus Christ in this situation is : "Forgive them, for they NOT KNOW what they are doing". This is Christianity. Jesus, though God himself & could have destroyed all the power's of the earth but wanted to set an example of true meaning of sacrificial LOVE. He died for the sin of human race to liberate them.

However, the world has changed since then & I too! This cowardice act only goes to show how SHALLOW their faith is....

Lord, please forgive these mentally ill people. They need our prayer and treatment, becuase they are sick, mentally disturbed and may be even thrown out from their own family. Friends, during this Holy Week, let us pray for these people because Lord Jesus taught us to forgive our enemies. Let us bear the pain & emerge victorious. Our religion teaches us 'Ahimsa' and I am happy we follow it. A very grace filled, happy Easter to all.

"A group of miscreants pelted stones at the devotees who had gathered to observe Maundy Thursday at St Sebastian Church."

This is very sad to read. Christians gathered at church to observe Maundy Thursday and suddenly miscreants pelted stones at them.
That must not happen in India. Christians are a minority and enjoy constitutional rights. Christians have done so much for a shining India and especially they have done so much for the poor.
Peace is the message of Easter. The miscreants must be punished.

    Best regards

Karnataka Police should trace the culprits and punish them under life imprisionment. So that they shouldn't dare to do it again to us. Either the Congress or any other Govt. can't do anything. What Oscar has done to the Community. Why he is interfering in this case? Where he was earlier?

Good friday is very auspicious for christians. Christianity peaches and believes in forgiveness. Just forgive the culprits and pary Lord to guide the miscreats to His light and path so that they become refined and loved by God and His people. The act needs to be condemned and there should be a thorough investigation into the incident.. May peace prevail. May Lords will prevail.

Don't throw stones on others. It will come back to you one day. Whatever you do for others good or bad you will get it sure. Those who don't have any good things to do can only do these kind of dirty things. They are not only burden to our country for the whole world. They are not even worthy to drink water of this earth.

One more cowardly attack on minorities by the miscreants. How long will this continue? Mr. & Mrs Oscar Fernandes should go to the police station to lodge a complain and demand immediate arrest of these miscreants. There is no need to visit the victims and take mileage of the incident. Today the minority is suffering cause of these miscreants and good for nothing leaders.

The funniest part is police are placed in the place of incident for a day or two and then sent back to their normal routines..there was a chain snatching incident in Bejai last month and and entire week after that police were seen torturing the rest of the mangaloreans asking for doucuments and taking fines for all silly reasons as if the culprits will come back again in the same place...what dumb thinking...the same will happen here too and some innocent mangaloreans will end up paying fines to the traffic police in the next week and nothing else..bloody cheap
