Mangalore: Good Friday Observed with Solemnity in City

Mangalore, Apr 6: Good Friday, one of the most important days in the Christian calendar, was observed with solemnity in various parishes across the city on Friday April 6.

Thousands of devotees flocked to their respective churches to participate in the Good Friday service.

Good Friday observance at Holy Cross Church, Kulshekar, and Milagres Church

The Way of the Cross was enacted in the churches, depicting the events surrounding the crucification of Jesus Christ. The devotees carried images of Jesus and Mother Mary.

The church ceremonies on this day include reading of the Passion of Christ, reciting a string of prayers, unveiling and veneration of the Cross and communion service.

At Milagres Church, statues representing the stations have been installed along the compound wall and the congregation moved from station to station, reciting the relevant prayers.

Mumbai, Apr 6 : The Way of the Cross was organized by Holy Trinity Church, Powai on the occasion of Good Friday from 6.30 am morning.

The mobile event had actors enacting the 14 Stations across Nahur, Bhandup, Kanjurmarg and Powai localites on an open truck. The procession started from Asian paints, Nahur and after covering 7 kms concluded at the Holy Trinity Church, Powai.

Huge number of Christians joined the walking pilgrimage on this day of fast, prayer, penance and abstinence.

Parish Priest Fr Rudolf Athrade along with Fr Gavin Lopez and Br D Michael Pinto lead and organized the event.

    It is GOOD FRIDAY becaus JESUS
    died at the cross and paid totally
    for our sins...both the rich and
    even the penniless pauper has the equal
    right and privilege for the washing away of his/her sins and
    to have peace and joy in life..
    that much GOD loved us.

    One side JESUS was feeding hungers & other end on the cross JESUS was suffering by hungry & thirsty. Can`t immagine. Chritians life is really hard life. They do lot of sacrifices. DAIJIWORLD has given us beautiful pictures of the ceremony. Thank you.
