Hanuman Jayanti Celebrated in Agra

Agra, Apr 6 (IANS): Hanuman Jayanti was Friday celebrated with devotion and fervour in and around Agra -- even as Christians observed Good Friday.

Large crowds thronged Hanuman temples all over the Taj city.

Hanuman Chalisa recitals and reading of 'Sundar Kand' from the Ram Charit Manas were organised in temples in Vrindavan, Mathura, Hathras, Aligarh and Firozabad.

Simultaneously, the main Cathedral of Immaculate Conception, St Mary's Church in Sadar Bazar and other churches organised special programmes here to mark Good Friday.

And members of the Jain community took out a mile long procession Friday to observe Mahavir Jayanti.
