Mangalore: 'Alva's Pragati' to Provide Career Opportunities to Young Aspirants

Mangalore, Apr 7: The Alva's Education Foundation will present 'Alva's Pragati-2012', a job fair on May 12 and 13 at Udayagiri in the college premises.

Website www.alvaspragati.com, a dedicated portal that would enhance Alva’s Pragati cause was inaugurated by the chairman of the institution Dr Mohan Alva at a press meet held here on Saturday April 7 at 11 am.

Speaking to reporters, Dr Mohan Alva said that the institution will be organizing three major events in the year, namely, 'Alva’s Virasat', 'Alva’s Nudisiri' and 'Alva’s Pragati'.

'Alva’s Pragati' is a job fair that is expected to witness a participation of around 25,000 aspirants as well as 150 companies this year. Students not only from DK district, but also from Kodagu, Shimoga, Chikballapur will be participating this year.

In the first year of its event in 2010, there were almost 1900 job placements. As many as 15,000 students from more than 300 colleges and 143 companies had participated last year with a placement of 3,000 jobs.

'Alva’s Pragati' will be presided over by union corporate affairs minister Dr M Veerappa Moily.

The primary responsibility of this job fair is to provide clarity and guide the students to the right job, thus making this event more effective by increasing the placement ratio, Dr Alva said.
