Nine Miners Trapped in Peru

Santiago, Apr 8 (IANS/RIA Novosti): Nine miners remained trapped underground in southern Peru after a copper mine where they were working caved in two days ago.

The accident at the Cabeza de Negro gold-and-copper mine took place Thursday.

Rescuers managed to drill a hole in the ground and extended a hose to the trapped miners, supplying them with oxygen, water and food.

Doctors say the trapped miners are alive, although some of them suffered from dehydration and depression.
