Reporters in Pyongyang for Satellite Launch

Pyongyang, Apr 8 (IANS): About 30 foreign journalists from around the world are in North Korea to cover the country's satellite launch, the official media reported.

They represent major wire services and television broadcasters like the AP, CNN, NBC, Channel One, Kyodo News Agency, AFP, Reuters and the BBC.

North Korea is set to launch the Kwangmyongsong-3 satellite, for earth observation, between April 12 and 16 to mark the 100th birthday of late leader Kim Il-Sung.

The satellite, to be carried by a long-range Unha-3 rocket, will be launched south of Cholsan county, Xinhua Saturday quoted the state-run KCNA news agency as saying.

The Korean Committee for Space Technology (KCST) has invited foreign experts and journalists to observe the launch.
