Bangalore, Apr 9: Results of the second pre-university certificate examination, which was completed recently, will be announced before this year’s Common Entrance Test to be held on May 3 and 4.

Evaluation of answer papers of PU examination commenced on Monday (April 9) at different centres across the State and results would be announced before the CET for the benefit of students, Primary and Secondary Education Minister Vishveshwara Hegde Kageri announced.

After talks with representatives of teachers’ association and MLCs representing teachers’ constituencies on Sunday, teachers have withdrawn their decision to boycott evaluation of answer papers and commenced evaluation , the minister said.

On PU teachers’  threat to boycott evaluation if their demand on wage disparity was not met before April 12, the Minister said it was not right on the part of teachers to set deadline to fulfill their demand.

The teachers have to be flexible while demanding pay-hike and cannot dictate terms to the Government, he said.

Lecturers are demanding that their salaries must be brought on a par with degree college teachers. Degree lecturers are being paid University Grant Commission (UGC) pay-scale.

Kageri said the State Government would look into PU teachers’ demands at an appropriate time.

The minister promised to discuss with Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda, who also holds the Finance portfolio, and find out the implications of implementing pay-hike on the State exchequer and whether the State Government could afford to bear the additional burden.

PU syllabus CBSE syllabus would be introduced in science stream (physics, chemistry, mathematics, biology) in Pre-University Course (PUC) in the State from the coming academic year (2012-13), he said.

The decision was taken following the Government’s decision to seek two years time for bringing its student under the ambit of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for Medical (MBBS) seats.

First year PUC students would have CBSE syllabus from 2012-13 and continue with it next year for second year PU students.
