Mangalore, Apr 11: 'Manavata Samavesha', an inter-faith convention was held at Town Hall here on Wednesday April 11, with religious leaders from three major communities conveying the message of harmony and peace.

The programme was inaugurated by chairman of Yenepoya Group Y Abdullah Kunhi while president of the State Jamiathul Ulema Qazi P M Ibrahim Musliyar Bekal presided. The programme was organised by the Association of Sunni organizations.

In his address, Sri Vishweshateertha Swamiji of Pejavar Mutt said that values of peace, tolerance and humanity are common to all religions. He appealed to the people to live with harmony and foster brotherhood. Taking the example of Ayodhya issue, he said it is politics rather than religion that creates differences between people.

Vicar general of Mangalore diocese Fr Denis Moras Prabhu said all are children of the same god and hence brothers and sisters. Therefore, one should protect rather than fight with others, he stressed.

General secretary of All India Ulema Council A P Abubaker Musliyar suggested that the best way to combat evil was by doing good deeds and helping one another. He also urged people to respect other faiths and not insult them.

Among those present were MLAs Ramanath Rai and U T Khader, chairman of state minorities commission Anwar Manippady and others.

Terrorism is a cowardly act committed in the name of religion by faceless radical elements. They are brain-washed fundamentalists and kill innocent people in the name of religion by planting bombs in the public places or blow themselves up. They are fugitives, always on the run and If caught they face the music. What about the powerful US and its alliance. They bully, threaten and illegally invade any independent country against the world order. I agree that terrorists sponsored by Palestinians, Pakistanis and few African nations kill few hundred innocent people where as these Frankenstein monstrous world lords kill innocent people in millions and totally destroy their nations. Later they take the control of their oil and interestingly, siphon the country's wealth through exorbitantly quoted developmental plans that too by the same destroyers.
What a mega money making racket by the so called developed nations. The second best way of making mega bucks is by selling their military arsenals again, at an exorbitant rate. We fools bare our meager economy to these giants and fight like cats and dogs. The Western countries are ready to sell the similar weapons to both the countries at the same time. We fools buy them at the cost of our poor economy, like crackers burst them and again buy fresh stock from these economic giants.
Is Pakistan the reason in Israel occupation? Is Pakistan the reason in Afghan, Iraq & Libya invasion? It is petro-dollar and the sale of their sophisticated military weapons that are the reasons of all the wars.

@Bulsam, Mangalore, if my house is in order no one dares to trespass your house. So, don’t blame west. It’s us who are at fault, just take our neighbor Pakistan, whenever there a terrorist attack anywhere in the world, the links point to this failed nation. Why? So before pointing at others look at yourself.

In the name religious hatred-mess the so called developed, educated and modern Western countries without any provocation attack & terrorise few majority Muslim countries that too against the UN sanction. In the bargain the sophisticated killing machines of these advanced countries massacre hundreds of thousands of innocent citizens of those countries. The worst sufferers are the children, women and senior citizens. In the name of peace, they don't hesitate to atom bombs, naphtha bombs, missiles, intelligent bombs and what not? They carpet bombs the civilians in populated cities and towns that terrorises and kills millions of innocent citizens like beasts.

In the end of all illegal invasions, that occupied countries are totally destroyed, buildings are razed, roads, bridges and water pipelines are destroyed, millions are killed and maimed and the rest of them live like dead without clean drinking water, food, medical facilities, roof under their head for shelter, sanitations and jobs.
Still the world doesn’t dare talk against such open aggressive killings of innocent fellow human being because no nation can afford to have strained relation with these financially powerful trading partners.

Finally the three major religions of the world in our region have realised that their teaching should be based for the betterment of the fellow human being. But in reality, every religion wants their religion to be supreme from others.
Please follow the scripts of your religion that teaches goodness and adopt the policy of live and let live. Please learn to give and take respect from other religion. Please teach the believers of your religion to be a better human being and not a monster that in the name of religion creates terror in the minds fellow human being.

Religion is a private affair and should not be mixed with politics or state subject. Anyone discussing religion or implementing their religious ideologies in public should be punished severely. So much of public money is being spent on places of worship and religious function which should be put to an end. No government land or money should be given to religious organizations. Only then a country can progress and the public money could be put to use for actual development. All private religious practices should be left to individuals and Government should not dole out or be involved in any such activity. Everyone is free to choose their beliefs and faiths and spend as much as they want in appeasing their deities. Let the ruling Government at the Center and State be a NON Religious one for good of the nation.

We need more & more inter-faith conventions so that people can understand the true value of their religion. We should also keep our GOD in our heart, home, temple, mosque or church but not on the road. Some of us are too obsessed with religion that without thinking we start abusing or disrespecting other religion without knowing that religion fully. Every religion is good and beautiful when the followers understand and respects the other religion too. We should also keep away from those Religious Leaders who speaks politics and those Politicians who speaks about religion too

To understand why violence takes place in our society and around the world one must make a clear distinction between religious scriptures of the ideologies like Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, etc and not by the actions of it followers i.e Muslims, Christians and Hindus. Hence there is a big difference between ideology and people so please do not mix the two.

Mixing religion and politics is absolute dynamite, but sadly there in only one religion tht has a very strong political base. The level of politics is so high that their clergies make political statements from their places of worship. Politics are discussed openly on television and the political parties as well as terror groups are based on their ideology. When their clergy feel that they been wronged they incite violence from their places of worship and get their people on the streets to cause mayhem till their demands met. Their clergies also put bounties on the heads of people whom they disagree with and order assassinations.

This religion has a complete set of laws so well defined that not only teaches them how them how they should rule and deal with their own people, but also how they should deal with people of all other religions and faiths. This religion also demands payment in cash to allow people of other religions to live in peace. Something in line to how the mafia operate, but the only difference is their actions are divinely sanctioned.

Presently, this one group of people is fighting in all corners of the world. Where they are in a majority they are fighting among themselves. Where they are in a minority they are fighting with the majority for special rights, that they do not give to people of other religions where they are in a majority.

This is a great step, and it must be continued through peace rallies and other get-together, thus it will get expanded every day to bring more unity and peace in the society.

We can't expect the politicians in such peace rallies because they are the people using the sharp
sword created with a religious flavour, dividing the society and taking advantage of the innocent electorate.

There are thousands of people in all the religions seeking after peace and love to live in peace with the neighbour. Let those people march together and it will create a new revolution of peace.

ALL THE BEST WISHES AND LET GOD'S BLESSINGS BE UPON THE INTER-FAITH CONVENTION.

Good move. But gatherings belongs to,it seems, only one community!!??The programme lacking wide appeal.I mean VHP/other leaders should be invited and asked to address the gathering.Bring all warring communities in one stage and have a debate and meaningful dialogue so the tension between communities might be eased @ least undivided DK/Udupi.Such kind of get together need to be consistent and with clear agenda.
