Mangalore, Apr 12: Various parts of the city and the taluk, Puttur taluk and Kasargod district experienced some rains on Wednesday April 11. There was light drizzle again on Thursday morning. Panambur and Suratkal were the other places which reported rain. The rain in the district averaged 3 cm.

The rainfall was quite heavy in some parts of the city like Kankanady, Bunts Hostel, Pumpwell and neighbouring areas, which got drenched, forcing the people to bring out their umbrellas and rain coats. Places like Lady Hill, Urva Store and Kavoor experienced lighter rains in comparison.

Because of the fact that storm drains are clogged with mud and waste, a number of shops in Bajpe and Gurpur Kaikamba suffered heavy losses after rain water entered their shops on Tuesday night and again on Wednesday. The shops which suffered include stationery shop, hotel, and mobile shop.

Belgaum district accounted for good rain, while other north Karnataka districts, which are parched, too experienced some welcome rains. The meteorological department has predicted rain in coastal region and some parts of southern hinterland during the period till Friday morning.

Nice weather in mangalore miss those days , just reminds me of the childhood days where we used to get wet purposely even though if we had the umbrella, used to come home fully drenched and play in rain like crazy... no worries will be coming to kudla next week after long time ..

Mangalore and other parts of Karnataka and in fact all over India need rains as there is shortage of water and there is drought in many places. It is already very hot with the high temperatures which is unbearable. Spoorthi Ullal, your pictures are fantastic as some were caught unaware of the rain and we could see three to four people sharing on umbrella and some without anything to cover their heads. I liked the picture of the tender coconut vendor with one customer savoring his tender coconut.
