Jeddah, Apr 13: Abdul Salam (26), son of Ibrahim and Ayesha couple from Kardolyagudda in Jeppinamogaru here, drowned in the sea off Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The tragedy occurred on Sunday April 8, but the information was received with delay.

Salam worked as a car driver of a citizen of Saudi Arabia at Jeddah. It is learnt that his master had asked Salam to accompany the former in a ride for catching fish in his personal boat. Later, it was informed that Abdul Salam accidentally fell into the sea from the boat, and remains untraced thereafter.

The relatives of Salam said that they have not been able to establish direct contact with Salam’s owner, and that a third person was communicating between the two sides. “We were informed that the incident occurred at 8 am on Sunday, but got to know only at 3 pm on Monday that search for Salam was on,” they revealed.

It is learnt that a complaint in this connection has been filed with the rural police station here. The relatives hope that the Indian embassy will intervene in the matter and do the needful.
