Bangalore: Summons Issued to Yeddyurappa, Somanna

Bangalore, Apr 13 (PTI): A Lokayukta court on Friday ordered issue of summons to former Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, Housing Minister V. Somanna and two others in a case relating to alleged irregularities in denotification of land.

Ordering issue of summons, judge N.K. Sudhindra Rao directed Mr. Yeddyurappa, Mr. Somanna, his wife and a person named Lingaraju to appear without fail on April 30.

On March 21, Lokayukta police probing the case had filed a ’B’ report absolving Mr. Somanna of charges of “misusing his position” in the case, stating that he was neither an MLA nor a minister during the period when the land was denotified and therefore there was no case to proceed against him.

The others accused in the case, including Mr. Yeddyurappa, were also absolved of the charges.

The’ B’ report was challenged by complainant Ravi Krishna Reddy on March 29.

On January 17, the Karnataka High Court had granted anticipatory bail to all the accused in the case.

The complainant had alleged that Mr. Somanna used his position as a minister to secure denotification of 22 guntas (one gunta is about 1,086 sq ft) of land in Nagadevanahalli village for an educational institution run by his wife, despite the land having been acquired by Bangalore Development Authority.

After the Lokayukta court took cognisance of the complaint, all the four moved the High Court for anticipatory bail.

The then Chief Minister Yeddyurappa had allegedly ordered for denotification of the land on the request of the erstwhile land owner Lingaraju, according to the complaint.

DVS's gain is Yeddy's loss!!!The magnitude of Court proceedings against Yeddy and friends will be "blessing in disguise"for DVS and his camp. However, the rift between MAAJI and HAALI CMs will further worsen as day passes.DVS,CM, removed all Yeddy's man from CM's office which may further deepen divisions between the two camps. The CEC report will be final match between both stalwarts and all are curious to see what is the outcome and repurcussions..

I have some confusion over the issue of summons to Yeddy and Somanna because the Lokayukta Police submitted B report and both are absolved!! Then why this kolavery Di now?Is there no CAVEAT in HC over the issue by Lokayukta? How could Lokayukta police submit B report if there was prima facie evidence against duo!!!!The same Lokayukta Court issues summon on the ground of petitioner's contention of what Lokayukta Police pointed was not correct!!Therefore, all B reports submitted by Lokayukta police need a review regarding De-notification,including R.Ashok's(Home Minister).

After some days he is going to come out clean. Nothing will happen with our weak legal system. Hence it is waste of public money behind these kind of investigations.
