Mangalore: Grand Celebrations Mark Kavu Temple Brahmakalashotsava

Mangalore, Apr 15: The Ashtabandha Brahmakalshotsava of the Kavu Sri Panchalingeshwara Temple, Bajal was celebrated from April 8 to 13 at the temple premises.

The celebration was marked by religious and cultural events on all the days. An attractive hore kanike procession was organized on April 8 at 4 pm from Pumpwell to the temple.

A large number of devotees took part in this procession which comprised by 'chende' and 'gombe kunitha'.

The religious rituals included Ganahoma, punyahuthi, Durganamaskara puja, Prayashchitha homa, Trikala homa, Thorana prathishte, Aadivasa homa, Bali seva and Kalashabisheka. The cultural programme included Tulu drama 'Voikla Yoga Bodu', 'Disethundu Kisetijji' and Brahma Kapala, Bharathanatyam, karate show, classical and folk dance, Yakshagana and Sri Rakshakavacha.

A formal stage programme was also organized on all the days wherein a large number of swamijis from Uppala, Manila, Gurupura, Odiyoor, and Kolya took part, along with political leaders like H D Kumaraswamy, B Ramanath Rai, Nalin Kumar Kateel, Yogish Bhat, Ajith Kumar Rai Maladi, B Nagaraj Shetty, Eshwarappa, Krishna J Palemar and many others. Scores of devotees participated too and sought blessings from lord Panchalingeshwara.
