Bangalore, Apr 16: It is now the turn of former Congress Chief Minister Dharam Singh and JD(S) leader H D Revanna and others to face the heat of a Lokayukta probe in connection with alleged irregularities in the land denotification cases against them.

While Dharam Singh is the Congress MP from Gulbarga Lok Sabha constitutency, Revanna is the JD(S) floor leader in the State Assembly and also a former Cabinet minister.

Revanna is also the son of former Prime Minister and JD(S) national president H D Deve Gowda.

Interestingly, Deve Gowda’s daughter-in-law Kavitha Balakrishna, who is the wife of another son H D Balakrishna, and 10 other land-owners have been named in the private complaint registered with the Lokayukta Special Court headed by Judge N K Sudhindra Rao.

The Lokayukta Special Court Judge N K Sudhindra Rao, who heard the private complaint lodged against the political leaders belonging to Congress and JD(S) and others, ordered Bangalore Urban Superintendent of Police (Lokayukta) to probe the private complaint filed by Ravi Kumar, BJP Yuva Morcha Member Secretary, and submit the report by May 21.

The complainant accused Dharam Singh of illegally denotifying 10 acres 17 guntas (a gunta is 1/40th of an acre) in Uttarahalli, Bangalore North Taluk, allocated for formation of Banashankari VIth Stage by Bangalore Development Authority, on October 5, 2005 when he was Chief Minister.

Of this 10 acres 17 guntas land, the complainant alleged that 2 acres 20 guntas was sold to Kavita Balakrishna for Rs 50 lakh and the sale deed was executed on December 9, 2005.

Kavita in turn sold this to Sobha developers on August 1, 2006 for a whopping sum of Rs 4 crore.

On the same day, the remaining land was also sold to Sobha Developers by the other landowners for a whopping sum, the complaint said alleging ``pecuniary gains” in the deal.

Revanna, who served as a Cabinet minster in the Dharam Singh led Congress-JD(S) coalition minister, is alleged to have used his influence to swing the deal in favour of his sister-in-law.
